Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs

Smokehouse Glenn is an outstanding butcher shop. He also likes to experiment with his business neighbor, Spicy Jo in the “test kitchen” to develop new products to sell at Northern Meats. Today, Glenn brought in spaghetti and meatballs which is a perfect example of this.

Glenn made meatballs from his own recipe using ground beef, mild Italian sausage, his secret “meatloaf binding mixture” and NO EGGS! Meatballs were very moist and tender; the mild sausage gave the meat a hint of flavoring with thyme from the binder.

Smokehouse Glenn Spicy Jo's

Spicy Jo used her super spice combo for Spaghetti Sauce seasoning consisting of fennel, black pepper, coriander, basil, oregano, anise, nutmeg, chilli peppers salt, garlic and hydrated onions. Delicious spice combination of several spices I would never have thought to combine for spaghetti sauce seasoning. What a pleasant surprise!

This Saturday, the 26th, Northern Meats is having a Tasters Day where this spaghetti recipe along with many of the meats, jerky and sausages will be available for sampling and purchasing. What other meat market in our area allows you to sample their products? You have seen the pictures in our posts of all the weekly Stop by from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to Northern Meats located in the Country Village in Ishpeming across from Ace Hardware and the Cinema V Theater.
