Dearborn Ham Gets Balsamized!

 Smokehouse Glenn experimented successfully this morning with two flavored balsamic vinegars that he added to Dearborn spiral sliced ham. Glenn experimented with two different flavored balsamic vinegars and came up with two distinct tastes for an already proven product – Dearborn ham!

Maple flavored and Pineapple flavored vinegars were drizzled over slices of Dearborn ham and warmed in the oven. Simple, flavorful and many tasty applications! Use this ham in a breakfast dish, a hot ham sandwich with mashed potatoes or as a party hor d’orve. You could also combine the maple and pineapple to make a glaze for pork chops, pork steaks or roasts.

The pineapple flavor was the more preferred choice over maple, personally, I’m more accustomed to family recipes that had pineapple rings and cherries on our whole ham than maple. However, I think the maple flavor would work well in a baked bean dish or possibly mixed in your pancake patter!

 

 

Smokehouse Glenn’s Open House went well this past weekend. Glenn featured several dishes also featuring his fruit flavored vinegars as toppings for ice cream. Now that his Test Kitchen is fully functional, the store will feature weekend cooking and sampling of various recipes using his store products.
