Smokehouse Glenn hit the office this morning with two recipes that tasted amazing and these recipe samples didn’t last long on my desk once these dishes were spotted.

For a great tasting breakfast, let’s start with Glenn’s Frisky Frittata recipe. This scrambled egg dish used Glenn’s breakfast sausage sauteed in his Organic Garlic infused olive oil, eggs, salt and pepper, sliced sweet peppers, diced onions and a grated blend of Asiago and Parmesan cheeses. Real easy to make and very tasty! This dish could easily go along with hash browns, toast and fresh brewed coffee!

Thinking about lunch – try this Enchilada dish that is also delicious and easy to make with a few ingredients. Glenn browned one pound each of ground beef and turkey in a skillet with some of his Harissa infused and Cilantro /Roasted Onion infused olive oils. Add to the meat some cooked chopped onion along with ½ t of cumin and 1 ½ T chili powder; along with salt and 16 ozs. of tomato sauce. The pictures show how good theses dishes look but the final proof is in the TASTING – very delicious!

Speaking of tasting, Smokehouse Glenn will officially launch the public unveiling of his “Test Kitchen” during his Open House at his store; Saturday, March 15th from 10 to 6! Customers can come in on that Saturday and watch as Glenn will actually be cooking a dish in the Test Kitchen, using meats and assorted flavor infused oils, vinegars, sea salts and seasonings! Smokehouse Glenn’s entire store will be filled with the enticing aroma of an easy to make, home made dish! Stop in – sample then buy something that will drive your taste buds wild!

The Brat List Keeps On Growing!

Northern Meats’ last Sample Saturday had Smokehouse Glenn polling his customers for new brat recipe suggestions. After reviewing many good ideas, this brat was the one that gained Glenn’s attention – so, here we have the winning suggestion – Chicken Bacon Ranch Brats for the sampling today.

This tasty recipe consists of 100% lean chicken meat, minced bits of Northern Meats own bacon, ranch seasoning plus Glenn’s own mixture of spices that he uses for all his brat recipes. Oh, man – are these brats delicious! Moist as always with all of Glenn’s brats with tender chicken. I couldn’t specifically distinguish the ranch seasoning however this recipe is great tasting!

This newest flavor joins Glenn’s other customer favorites – Mushroom & Swiss, Mac & Cheese and his Tailgate brats. Smokehouse Glenn has received so many requests for various brat recipes that he may have to TEMPORARILY retire several because his brat list is getting lengthy.

 

 

Another new recipe to emerge from the Northern Meats test kitchen – Sun dried Tomato & Basil Marinaded Chicken breasts. Mmmm Good! Smokehouse Glenn is always at work bringing you quality beef, pork and chicken meal entrees for your eating enjoyment.

Sample Saturday Was Hamming It Up at Northern Meats

Northern Meat’s third Sample Saturday featured Hams from Dearborn Sausage and Smokehouse Glenn was demonstrating how he can spiral slice and glaze a delicious ham from Easter holiday dinner. Northern Meats is the only custom cut butcher shop in the area that can spiral slice and glaze a Dearborn ham for you.

I had a Dearborn ham for last Christmas and these hams taste delicious! Dearborn Hams are  not  water-added hams meaning that you are paying for a true weight in meat and not extra water. Water adding can also increase the salt content of the ham, which is never desirable.

Glenn was selling several hams this weekend and I had the chance to watch both his slicing and glazing procedures.
